MMSA
This set of pages is dedicated to the running and management of the MMSA met site.
The gist of this workflow is:
2004-12 Working:
- CRREL downloads data hourly from MMSA (Free phone)
- UCSB ftp's data hourly from CRREL (ethernet)
- Simple Python based parsing of data into hourly/daily/weekly graphs to web-page
2004-12 Not Working:
- Domain checking of data.
- Automatic ingesting of hourly data into DB
- Serving of data thru web based interface to DB
Look into getting ISP for site PC/phone line, availability of service and funds.
200412: Need to overhaul MMSA/Neige DB & website.
- This is likely to take months and is currently run on an ancient windows 2K server box running SQL w/ the stuff Tyler Erickson did to automate data ingestion and act as a front end via the web. This is currently broken.
- Plan:
- Slick OM (dual 1.8 athlon w/ 1-2GB RAM & decent SCSI disk) as a new hardware platform, install W2003 server w/ SQL 2000 server. Keep ALL unnecessary kruft off and interact w/ the system almost entirely thru the console or SQL ports from 128.111.110.0/23 hosts.
- Build up FC3 server for Apache/PHP/Python auto-ingest and web frontend to OM.
